Manitoulin Island Sight Seeing.
Cup & Saucer:
Located 18 kms west of Little Current, at the junction of Hwy 540 and Bidwell Road. Two kms of dramatic 70 meter cliffs and breathtaking views, up to 12 kms of hiking trails, and the 2km adventure trail. One of the most popular trails in Ontario. Anywhere from one to four hours.
Lewis Twins Peak Hiking Trail:
This trail is in Sheguiandah and can be accessed from the east side of Hwy 6 near Garrette's Motel. Two km in length and a relatively easy hike, the trail provides two spectacular views of Bass Lake and the North Channel. The lookouts are on Quartzite outcrops. Allow about two hours.
M'Chigeeng:
The entrance is located behind the ballpark off Hwy 551. Includes two trails, one along the bottom of the bluff and the other going to the very top. The Bear Caves and Fossil Rock Point are two spots of interest. They offer spectacular views of the North Channel. Allow two to three hours.
Misery Bay:
Misery Bay Provincial Nature Reserve is a 860 hectare provincial park on the south shore of Manitoulin Island, a ten minute drive west of Evansville. There are two trails of about five kms and four km, which feature mixed woodland, old beach ridges, and rare alvars. A visitor center is due to open in June 2002. Allow two to four hours.
